Faraday makes its Red Carpet Debut: #Bike2Emmys
What if the American city most known for its car culture became a cycling mecca? Imagine miles and miles of protected bike lanes, letting you skirt the traffic of the 10 and 405 so you can get from Hollywood to the beach in half the time – and with none of the pollution.
Believe it or not, that vision is possible. And for the second straight year, Mad Men producer and writer Tom Smuts and his posse of bike evangelists did something radical for Los Angeles and Hollywood: They eschewed limos for a cleaner way of getting to the Emmys, taking bikes from Venice Beach all the way downtown and on to the Red Carpet.
In addition to a great assortment of celebrities and civic leaders on BikeShareLA bikes, there was a special guest star along for the ride. The founder of Skratch Labs, Allen Lim, snagged himself a Faraday to make the trip even more enjoyable.
After all, what better way to arrive on the Red Carpet in style than on the bike Bicycling Magazine called “The most elegant eBike ever.” Plus, with 95-degree heat, that motor sure made cycling in a tux more comfortable.
Congratulations to all of last night’s winners, and a huge thank you to everyone who made the ride, to @LADOTofficial, @LAMayorsOffice, @BikeMetro and many more for all their work on bike advocacy.
