Twelve months ago, we looked back on 2014 in a bit of amazement at how much got done and with hope that we could build on that momentum in 2015. Now we stand here (standing desks are all the rage, after all) with one day left in the year knowing that 2015 has been an amazing year of growth for our little bike brand that could. And we have you, our fantastic and supportive community, to thank.
Not only have you ridden off on more than 600 Porteurs this year (how is that even possible???), you’ve helped spread the word to the next generation of riders who will find that life is better lived on two wheels, and that doing good for the planet can also be a ton of fun. You’ve also showered us with positive feedback – giving us the fuel we need to keep rolling.
So we leave 2015 with a giant thank you, and look forward to an even better 2016. That might even include the step-through so many of you have been asking for… So make sure you’re following us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to be the first to know!
But before we get there, here’s a quick look at some of the milestones we hit in 2015:
First full production run of Porteurs – sold out!
In April, we welcomed 300 Porteurs to San Francisco Bay, overcoming a West Cost port shutdown to deliver our pre-ordered bikes in time for some great spring riding. We kicked off the fun with a ride around the Mission district here in San Francisco, starting at The New Wheel and popping in to Four Barrel Coffee for a little pick me up. The real pick me up? Within a couple of months that first run of Faradays was sold out, and the next shipment was on its way.
Launching our second bike: the Porteur S
With our classic Porteur flying off the shelves, we ramped up production on a second model, the Porteur S. It arrived in early September and we’ve been thrilled to see so many more people able to hop on a Faraday and join the two-wheel revolution thanks to the lower price point. (which, by the way, is currently even lower due to our end of year sale!)
We showed off our style at Interbike and the Emmy’s
With two bike models in tow, we headed to Las Vegas for the biggest party the bike industry knows how to throw, and the reception was exceptional. Our booth was non-stop conversation, and the bikes on the test track rarely sat idle. It was a fantastic way to introduce Faradays to dealers across the country, and one of our visitors (Allen Lim of Skratch Labs) was so impressed with the Porteur S that he snagged our display bike and took it to LA for the annual “Bike to Emmy’s” event. Needless to say, our Red Carpet debut was a smash hit…
Our growing dealer network brings Faradays to 15 states
At this time last year, you’d have been hard pressed to try a Faraday outside of the Bay Area. Now riders in 15 states can go for a spin, and ride away on a Faraday of their own, thanks to our growing network of fantastic dealers. We’re at 35 and counting. If you have a dealer near you who you think would be a great fit for us in 2016, drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org!
The reviews are in
In addition to the great feedback you’ve all provided throughout the year, we’ve also been the lucky recipients of several glowing reviews. From Bicycling Magazine calling the Porteur “The most elegant eBike ever” to Men’s Journal dubbing it “The most fun eBike money can buy,” we’ve been thrilled to find out that members of the media are just as likely as every-day riders to finish their first Faraday trip with a smile on their face.
The Faraday Riders Club is off and rolling
What better way to celebrate the pioneering riders who helped sell out our first production run than to create a club that will offer ongoing benefits like group rides, referral bonuses and exclusive gifts? So that’s exactly what we’ve created with the FRC. If you are a Faraday rider and haven’t joined, maybe that can be your New Year’s resolution. If you are already a member, we look forward to getting out and riding with you soon!
Once again, we can’t thank you enough for your support, and we’re thrilled to be bringing you even more exciting news in the coming weeks! 2016 is going to be a great year!
Happy New Year to you and yours,
